Titans 2024 NFL Schedule game-by-game predictions: Tennessee's path to playoffs in Will Levis' second season
Denny Simmons / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Tennessee Titans' schedule for the 2024 NFL season has officially been released!

We now know exactly when and where the Titans will play all their opponents this year. But what will the season truly hold? How many of these games can the Titans really win with new head coach Brian Callahan now at the helm? Will the new look offense and expensive new defense general manager Ran Carthon put together be able to take Tennessee from six wins in 2023 to a playoff berth in 2024?

Let's dive into some quick-hitting game-by-game predictions for the entire Titans' 2024 NFL schedule to see how this season might actually play out.

Week 1: Titans @ Bears - Soldier Field - Sunday, Sept. 8

Titans win 24-20: The Titans matchup incredibly well against the Chicago Bears for their Week 1 game. This will be Caleb Williams' first career NFL game. The Titans have the pass rush up the middle and off the edge to force him into a few errors. And the Bears secondary has some loose ends at safety (Kevin Byard--now a Bear--isn't who he was in his prime with the Titans) that should allow a few explosive pass plays from Will Levis.

Week 2: Titans vs. Jets - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Sept. 15

Titans win 26-24: Aaron Rodgers is going to take a few weeks to get back up to full speed coming off his ruptured Achilles. He hasn't played a complete game since his final season with the Packers in 2022. The Titans will likely struggle against the Jets' formidable defense and settle for a handful of field goals. However, in the end the lack of firepower from Rodgers and their receiving group that is essentially just Garrett Wilson and a busted Mike Williams will be the Jets' downfall.

Week 3: Titans vs. Packers - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Sept. 22

Packers win 28-20: Jordan Love actually looks like the future for the Green Bay Packers. And while they don't any alpha wide receivers, they do have a bevy of talented playmakers who can be their WR1 in any given week. The Titans will likely struggle to stop every facet of Green Bay's offense while also struggling to find consistency against the Packers' dominant defensive front.

Week 4: Titans @ Dolphins (MNF) - Hard Rock Stadium - Monday, Sept. 30

Dolphins win 34-30: Last year's electric comeback by the Titans was amazing. But this time the Dolphins get the last laugh. If the Dolphins have their pass rush healthy that will be just enough stop the final attempt at a game-winning drive from Will Levis and the newly promising offensive attack of the Titans through the air.

Week 5: BYE

This is an unfortunately early bye week for the Titans. They'll have to play 13 straight weeks of games after this. Not a great schedule draw compared to almost any other team in the NFL.

Week 6: Titans vs. Colts - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Oct. 13

Titans win 33-20: Everyone seems so sure that Anthony Richardson is going to be a star. He completed less than 60% of his passes last season, relied far too heavily on his legs, and led the Colts to more than 23 points of offense just once in his first four games. The Titans' new offense installed by Brian Callahan and their talented trio of experienced wide receivers should hit their stride in this divisional rivalry matchup against a questionable secondary. It's over early.

Week 7: Titans @ Bills - Highmark Stadium - Sunday, Oct. 20

Bills win 27-23: The Bills are missing offensive playmakers now that Stefon Diggs is gone, but Josh Allen is still the same extremely talented quarterback. He'll carry the offense just enough to beat the Titans when he's playing at home. Titans will also likely struggle against the depth of pass rush and big bodies up front for Buffalo. Tennessee's offensive line--while improved--is still definitely imperfect.

Week 8: Titans @ Lions - Ford Field - Sunday, Oct. 27

Lions win 38-27: Don't look now, but the Lions are one of the best teams in the league and could definitely make it to the NFC Championship game this fall. This is just a bad matchup across the board for the Titans. Amon-Ra St. Brown is a beast at wide receiver, maybe a top five player at the position. Sam LaPorta is already a top five tight end in the league and a major matchup nightmare that the Titans likely don't have a great defensive answer for. The Lions secondary is questionable, so the Titans will be able to score. It just won't be enough points to keep up.

Week 9: Titans vs. Patriots - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Nov. 3

Titans win 37-13: The Patriots' roster might be the worst in the entire NFL. This should be the one game where they're 100% going to be favored no matter how the rest of the season has gone up to this point. Titans will need a win badly at this juncture in their schedule and should come out swinging hard. DeAndre Hopkins or Calvin Ridley could go off for multiple touchdowns against this terrible defense as the Two-Tone Blue coast to a lopsided victory.

Week 10: Titans @ Chargers - Sofi Stadium - Sunday, Nov. 10

Titans win 19-16: New head coach Jim Harbaugh loves to win ugly if he can, playing ball control. And he's going to have to quite often considering the complete lack of skill position talent across the Chargers' roster. This will be a slow-paced defensive slug fest. Levis will very likely struggle against the pass rush of Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa, perhaps even turning the ball over multiple times. The Chargers just simply won't be able to score in any game this season.

Week 11: Titans vs. Vikings - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Nov. 17

Vikings win 24-23: All new first round rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy does is win football games (he's fresh off a national championship at Michigan). And it helps that he'll have the best surrounding cast of any incoming rookie quarterback this year. There may not be great offensive consistency from either team in this matchup, but an explosive play or two from Justin Jefferson or Aaron Jones should be just enough to give the Vikings an ever-so-slight edge.

Week 12: Titans @ Texans - NRG Stadium - Sunday, Nov. 24

Texans win 34-24: The Texans are expected to win 10 games this year by the major of betting markets which makes them the presumed favorite to win the AFC South. Young star quarterback C.J. Stroud's ball placement and impressive trio of wide receivers will be one of the toughest opponents the Titans face all year long. They very likely aren't able to keep up with the high-flying offense for Houston, at least for now.

Week 13: Titans @ Commanders - FedEx Field - Sunday, Dec. 1

Titans win 30-21: Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is a dynamic dual-threat star, but the Commanders were just picking second overall for a variety of reasons. Their offensive line still has major issues, the secondary is hot garbage, and they're missing elite edge rushing talent. The Titans very well could score 24 points in the first half and then just burn clock as Daniels scores some junk time touchdowns late.

Week 14: Titans vs. Jaguars (SNF) - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Dec. 8

Titans win 20-17: It's likely that both matchups between the Jaguars and Titans are not high scoring affairs this year. Playing a December game in Nashville could mean terrible weather, and even if it doesn't the Jaguars match up on the edges and in coverage well enough to limit the Titans' offense. However, the Jaguars don't have a proven set of offensive playmakers to help Trevor Lawrence thrive against familiar opponents in 2024. Slight edge to the Titans.

Week 15: Titans vs Bengals - Nissan Stadium - Sunday, Dec. 15

Bengals win 29-17: If Joe Burrow is healthy this could be the most difficult opponent on the Titans' AFC schedule this fall. The connection Burrow has with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins will make their offense wildly difficult to stop, even for the Titans' much-improved secondary. And if the Bengals stay healthy on defense they're going to have a top ten unit on that side of the ball too. A tough matchup ends poorly for Tennessee here most likely.

Week 16: Titans @ Colts - Lucas Oil Stadium - Sunday, Dec. 22

Colts win 23-21: At this point the Titans will be coming off ten straight games of Sunday football in a row thanks to their early bye week. Regardless of how the Bengals game goes the week before, it will have been one of the toughest games of the year. Levis likely connects on a few explosive plays given the Colts' secondary issues, but ultimately Anthony Richardson's mobility and sack avoidance becomes just enough of a headache to win them the day as the Colts kick a field goal at the end.

Week 17: Titans @ Jaguars - EverBank Stadium - Sunday, Dec. 29

Jaguars win 26-21: Again, this will be the Titans' 12th consecutive NFL game without a break. They'll have to travel on or immediately following Christmas. At this point the Titans could be freshly eliminated from playoff contention and facing a Jaguars team who needs a win to steal the final playoff spot (based on best projections via Vegas betting odds). At this point Trevor Lawrence will have gelled with first round wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and that is just enough of a difference to win the day late at home.

Week 18: Titans vs. Texans - Nissan Stadium - TBD

Titans win 23-13: There's a decent chance that the Texans are resting their starters for this Week 18 matchup. That's how good they could be this year if C.J. Stroud takes just one more step in his development. The Titans cruise to victory here against the backups. Even if it isn't a situation where the Texans are resting their full slate of starters, the Titans very well may want to try and play spoilers badly enough to push for one final win.

Titans' final record: 8-9

The Titans won just six games a year ago. The public and betting market expectations are that they're simply going to repeat that effort, likely landing with six wins again. However, the secondary is much improved. The defensive interior added some major beef with rookie T'Vondre Sweat. It's year two for Will Levis. The new coaching staff led by Brian Callahan should lend itself towards creating a solid offensive scheme that leans on their veteran wide receivers to score often.

In the end, that's likely enough to show significant promise in year one of the Carthon-Callahan era for Tennessee. But it's probably not quite enough to get them to the playoffs right away. If a bounce of a ball or two goes their way against the Vikings (with a rookie quarterback) or in their divisional games against the Colts and Jaguars they could sneak in as one of the final playoff seeds.
